US steel imports keep decreasing
According to the statistics released by America on March 30, the steel imports was 2.65 million tons in this February, down by 10 percent for some 294,000 tons from January.
It is estimated that steel imports in the US will be further declined and the supply will be tighter in next few months as the selling price of steel is too low in the domestic market.
In fact, US steel imports have dropped by 38 percent for 1.63 million tons compared with the peak period in July 2006. It has resulted the steel supply in the US decreasing by 12-13 percent.
The demands for steel have decreased by 3 percent, according to estimates from steel industry.
