Foreign firms dominate China electronics exports

Products from foreign-funded companies and joint ventures in China account for 89.9% of the nation's total exports of electronic information products in the first seven months of 2007.

According to the statistics of Ministry of Information Industry (MII), the exclusively foreign-funded companies gained US$158.65 billion exports, which rose 26.9% to 67.4% of the total exports in China. Joint ventures reached US$38.88 billion exports, or 16.5% of the nation's total, during the first seven months. Exports of Chinese companies was US$37.79, accounting for only 16.1% of the total exports.

The electronic information products, one of the largest manufacturing sectors in China, include the electronic components, DVDs, monitors, mobile phones, laptops and telecom equipments.

According to the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the output of this industry increased 17.5% to RMB 416.88 billion in the 1H, and the sales revenue rose to RMB 1.92 trillion.

The total exports of electronic information products went up 25.9% to US$235.32 billion in the first seven months, making up 36% of the nation’s total exports of all kinds of products. The imports grew 19.3% to US$ 182.09 billion, which is 35.2% of the nation’s total imports of all products.
