China's own brands cars account for 27% of total sales

China automakers has sold 940,300 cars with their independent brands in the first 9 months, accounting for 27% of the nation's total car sales, according the statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) on Tuesday.

Sales of the top 10 domestic brands, including QQ, Xiali, F3 and A520, amounted to 683,300 units in the first 3 quarters, contributing 73% to the sales of home brands cars. Among them, about 4.58 million passenger vehicles were sold in China in the first 9 months, up 23.84% over the same period last year.

3.44 million sedans, 251,700 SUVs and 165,300 MPVs were sold during the period, up 25.76%, 51.7% and 20.75% year-on-year, respectively.

According to the statistics, total cars output in China has reached 6.51 million units from January to September this year, up 22.78% year-on-year, while total sales amounted to 6.46 million units, up 24.46% year-on-year. Zhang Xiaoyu, vice president of CAAM, forecasted that auto sales and output in China will both exceed 9 million units, to fulfill the target set in the 11th Five-year Plan (2006-2010) 3 years earlier.
