Chinese rail firm eyes Indonesian projects
The China Railway Engineering Corporation (CREC) is now eyeing railway projects in Riau and Central Kalimantan, Indonesia.
Riau Governor Rusli Zainal was quoted Friday by English daily The Jakarta Post as saying CREC had come up with a pricing scheme for the 400-km railway project with trains able to travel at up to 250 km per hour.
Besides CREC, Rusli said a German engineering firm had also expressed interest in the project on Sumatra Island.
"In terms of technology, both the German and Chinese technology is good. Our concern now is about pricing," he said.
Last month, CREC signed a memorandum of understanding with the Central Kalimantan administration to build a 500-kilometer-long rail line in the province.
