Beauty China to start in-house cosmetics production

Singapore-listed Beauty China Holdings Limited, which owns and manages the Color Zone and CharmingLady brands of color cosmetics and skincare products in China, targets to start commercial production of cosmetics by September 2007, the company said in a statement on Tuesday.

The Group's strategic decision to commence in-house cosmetics production is to ensure a reliable supply of high quality products for Color Zone and CharmingLady, as well as to enlarge its future revenue stream through OEM manufacturing, our sources cited Wong Hon Wai, Beauty China's Chairman and Managing Director, as saying.

Earlier this year, the Group has decided to acquire Zhuhai City Mei Zhi Hui Ri Hua Co. Ltd. as preparation for the in-house commercial production. Currently, the Group has paid HK$58.6 million for the acquisition. However, the acquisition will not be completed until the provisional Business License is converted to a permanent status, according to the company statement.

"Color Zone" brand of color cosmetics and skincare products targets at young and trendy women aged between 18 and 28 years, while "Charming Lady" targets ladies above the age of 25 with relatively higher disposable income.
