Jinzhou Economy and Technology Development Zone

Set up in 1992, the Jinzhou Economy and Technology Development Zone is among the first group of province-level development zones approved by Liaoning Province. But the development zone is not satisfied with this - the local government has vowed to build it into a coastal resort and modern residential area.

Our reporter Zhou Jing has the story.

Reporter:
Facing the Bohai Sea, sitting against Jinzhou City on the north , connecting to Jing-Jin-Tang region on the west and middle Liaoning's city group on the east, Jinzhou Economy and Technology Development Zone enjoys a superior geographic location.

Wang Xiaodong is an official from the administrative committee of the development zone. He says after 15 years of construction, the zone has generally been developed into three major areas, namely Jinzhou port, industrial area and the administrative and living area.

The Jinzhou Port in the Zone is the largest port in northern China. It has 10 berths for ships over 100,000 tons. The port has realized multiple functions as container transportation, loading and unloading of miscellaneous goods, made-oil export and delivery of crude oil to land. The port's annual throughput exceeds 14 million tons.

And at present, foreign businessmen from more than 10 countries and regions, including US, Germany and Japan have set up enterprises in the Zone. It has formed the industrial pattern concentrating on seven major sectors of high technological contents, high added-value and high returns, such as agricultural products processing, petroleum and chemical industry, auto spare parts manufacturing, biological medicine, building materials, logistics and tourism.

Tourism is what makes Jinzhou Development Zone stand out.

Wang Xiao Dong says the Zone boasts the famous Bijia Mountains, a national AAA tourist destination. Sole in the world, the Bijia Overbridge receives tourists nearly 1 million annually.

And for holiday makers, the open beaches with pure water and white sands in the zone are biggest attraction of the area.
Miss Ding and her families are from Shenyang, capital of Liaoning Province. It's their first time they've been to here.

"The water is clean here and the scenery, quite beautiful. We've long been heard of the beaches in Jinzhou. We are happy to spend a cozy afternoon swimming ans sunbathing here."

With its resource endowment and the hardwork and wisdom of its people, Jinzhou development Zone has topped Liaoning's 16 province-level development zones in comprehensive economic indicators.
