Aecom takes over architectural design company in Shenzhen

Aecom Technology Corp, the world's largest architecture design and consulting firm, extends its presence in China by acquiring Shenzhen-based CityMark Architects and Engineers, sources reported.

A banquet was held yesterday to celebrate the birth of the first foreign-owned design company with Class A architectural and engineering license in the city. Relevant government officials and representatives from architectural industry and housing developers were present at the banquet.

The company aims to greatly improve its market shares and service scope in China with CityMark's expertise and local presence, said John M. Dionisio, AECOM president and chief executive officer.

Sources said CityMark will act as the hub of Aecom whose next target is to expand into other cities. With the advanced technology and management concept brought by Aecom, CityMark is advancing towards its target- an international architectural design company.

CityMark, Shenzhen's largest private-owned design company, has designed many famous buildings including Da Meisha Sheraton Hotel in Shenzhen.
