China to enlarge its middle class

China is expecting to raise the population of its middle class by more than 50% by the year of 2020, in line with the goal to quadruple its per capital gross domestic product by the same year, source reported.

China government will need to improve its social security and service as well as its education system to meet with the requirement of a bigger middle class, said Zheng Xinli, deputy chief of the Central Policy Research Office of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.

The next decade, said Zheng, is crucial for China's economic development. A larger middle class will ensure more people to benefit from the reform, which in turn will attract more people to support the reform policy. In addition, a stable social environment is still the top priority for China's growth, Zheng added.

In China, a family with an annual total income in the range of RMB 60, 000 and RMB 200, 000 is considered as middle class.
