Hong Kong shares open weaker on continued global credit concerns

Share prices opened weaker on continued worries over global credit problems. Wall Street's dull performance overnight and early losses on China bourses also weighed on sentiment.

Dealers said an expected technical rebound from the two previous day's sharp declines failed to materialize. Instead, investors were in a cautious pre-weekend mood, locking in gains and holding on to their cash.

The Hang Seng index opened down 36.14 points or 0.13 pct at 27,708.31.

The property sub-index was down 84.48 points or 0.23 pct at 36,567.31.

The Hang Seng China Enterprises index was down 222.43 points or 1.36 pct at 16,109.65.
