China central bank promotes Yi Gang to vice governor - report

The People's Bank of China, or central bank, has promoted Yi Gang to vice governor, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing a bank spokesperson.

Yi's promotion follows a report yesterday in the official Shanghai Securities News that Ma Delun, an assistant governor, has also won promotion to vice governor.

Yi and Ma were assistants to governor Zhou Xiaochuan.

Vice governors Wu Xiaoling and Su Ning are expected to retire soon, the Wall Street Journal reported.
