PBOC gets 2 new vice governors

Ma Delun and Yi Gang have been appointed as vice governor of China's central bank – the People's Bank of China (PBOC) by the Chinese government, Xinhua News reported today.

Ma, who is 58 years old, was the assistant governor of the central bank before the promotion and had previously been the central bank's spokesman, vice director of the State Administration of Foreign Exchange, etc.

Yi, also the previous assistant governor, was born in 1958 and got his PhD degree in economics from University of Illinois in the U.S. He came to the central bank as a professor of Beijing University in 1997 and was successively assigned to be secretary general of the central bank's Monetary Policy Commission and the director-general of Monetary Policy Department of PBOC.

The former vice governor Xiang Junbo was named to be the head of the state-owned Agricultural Bank of China in June. Since then the position is awaiting new successors.
