Dell to team up with Five Star for products sale

Dell Inc, the world's No. 2 PC maker, is close to reach a cooperation agreement with China's Five Star Appliance, an electronics appliance retailer, to sell its products to Chinese customers through the outlets of the Chinese firm.

After the agreement being reached, Dell's products including PCs and laptops will be available from May in Five Star stores in China's major cities and salesman from Dell will assist customers in these stores.

The company plans to extend its presence in China with more stores in several months, said Liu Li, GM of Five Star's IT unit.

Laptops are seen as a key item of Five Star who predicted that sales of notebooks this year will exceed that of traditional computers for the first time. It will pick up pace in teaming up with global renowned brands to diversify its products and improve product management, the company said.

Dell which once focused on direct sales is seeking partnerships with retailers over recent years.
