Hengan International sees 2007 profit up 43.6%

Hengan International Group Co<1044>, China's leading sanitary products maker, announced on Tuesday it saw a strong increase in 2007 net profit, led by the surging demand for personal care and hygiene products.

Its net profit for the fiscal year 2007 was HK$1 billion, up 43.6% year-on-year.

The Hong Kong-listed company benefited from a continuing improvement of Chinese people's living standard, which spurred the market demand for quality consumer products. Sale soared 38.4% from the previous year to HK$5.69 billion.

Hengan International is principally engaged in the provision pf personal hygiene products since 1985. It is now one of the most established manufacturers of tissue paper, sanitary napkin products, disposable baby diapers, and skin care products. Its Fujian Phase II tissue paper production base and Hunan Phase II tissue paper production base are scheduled to commerce operation this month and December 2008 respectively.
