HK outward processing to Mainland on a hike
HK$451.5 billion of Hong Kong's total exports to Chinese mainland were for outward processing in 2007, up 10% year-on-year, according to the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD) of the SAR.
In the mean time, Hong Kong's imports from the Chinese mainland that related to outwards processing, totaled HK$780 billion (US$100 billion), up 1%, according to the department.
HK$841.0 billion of Hong Kong’s re-exports of Mainland origin to other places was generated through outward processing in the Mainland, up 3% year-on-year.
Chinese mainland's imports from Hong Kong, relating to outward processing, surged 13% over the corresponding period of 2006 to HK$119.2 billion (US$15.28 billion) in the fourth quarter of 2007.
