Kingfisher Airlines mulls direct China-India flight

Kingfisher Airlines, a major Indian airline, plans to offer direct China-India flights as early as next year, sources reported.

The Bangalore-based air carrier is seeking opportunities of launching "flights in and out of China" next year, as more planes are joining the fleet, Kingfisher's executive VP Hitesh Patel was quoted as saying.

He also revealed that the ten long-haul planes Kingfisher is getting this year will be used for non-stop Bangalore-New York and San Francisco routes and flights to Europe.

Another Indian airline based in Mumbai Jet Airways may launch the daily Mumbai-Shanghai-San Francisco flights in the first week of May, according to sources.

At present, only Air India and three Chinese carriers – China Eastern Airlines<600115><670>, China Southern Airlines<600029><1055> and Air China<601111><753> – offer the China-India flights.
