LG Display may build a LCD panel plant with Taiwan partner
South Korean electronics giant LG Display Co. (LPL) may tie up with Taiwan's Hannstar Display Corp to build a plant producing liquid crystal display (LCD) panels, a Taiwan newspaper reported.
The Taiwan company plans to build a 7.5 generation or 8.5 generation LCD plant, the report said without elaborating whether this plant is the one LG Display shows interest in.
HannStar Display, established in June 1998, specializes in the manufacturing of TFT-LCD products and these main applications are in notebook computer displays and desktop computer monitors.
The Taiwan-based panel manufacturer last week reported its revenues went down by 6.6% to NT$5.98 billion in February, and shipments also fell by 1.5% month-on-month to 1.46 million units.
