Airbus eyes green aviation along with Chinese partners
Airbus is preparing to apply the ISO 14001 environment management systems in Airbus China soon, said Rainer Ohler, Airbus senior vice president for public affairs and communications at the China Eco-efficiency Conference held last week.
This move is seen as part of its continuous efforts to build a green aviation industry. Ohler also called on its Chinese partners, suppliers and other key players in the aviation industry to join the green mission, which will be vital to the long-term and sustainable growth of the industry and China's economy.
The Chinese government has reiterated its intention to meet strict energy efficiency and pollutant reduction targets. The General Work Plan for Energy Conservation and Pollutant Discharge Reduction shows that China will stick to the plan of reducing energy consumption per unit of gross domestic product (GDP) by 20% or 4% each year and cutting total emissions of major pollutants by 10% by 2010.
