Baidu mulls China's Wireless Search Market

Baidu is now cooperating with Shanghai's Jiading county, which is posing to be a wireless zone, for the development of a wireless search service, a representative from the county disclosed.
An unnamed official with Baidu has also noted that the company will participate in the building and creation of applications for the wireless network. The project is expected to be extended to China's major cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Dongguan and Changde, with aims to be popularized in 25 medium and big cities by the end of 2008.
Baidu on Wednesday announced the appointment of Mr. Peng Ye, the former country general manager of Apple China as chief operating officer, effective from Apr. 25, 2008.
