HK's total goods exports rise 84.6% in 10 yrs
Hong Kong's total goods exports rose 84.6% to HK$2.688 trillion (US$345 billion) last year compared with HK$1.456 trillion (US$187 billion) in 1997, according to the April issue of Hong Kong Monthly Digest of Statistics released Monday.
The value of Hong Kong's goods imports has increased from HK$1.615 trillion (US$207 billion) to HK$2.868 trillion (US$368 billion) during the past 10 years, according to the Census and Statistics Department.
Two main suppliers of its imports were China mainland and Japan during the period. The value of imports from the mainland expanded from HK$608.4 billion (US$78.14 billion) to HK$1.33 trillion (US$170.8 billion), while that from Japan rose from HK$221.6 billion (US$28.46) to HK$287.3 billion (US$36.9), accounting for 46.4% and 10% respectively of Hong Kong's total import value.
