Huawei launches 700 MHz base stations

Huawei Technologies, a leader in providing next generation telecommunications network solutions for worldwide operators, announced their first-to-market network base stations for the recently-auctioned 700 MHz spectrum are set to be available in the first quarter of 2009.

The base station range including distributed, integrated indoor and outdoor units, will support dual-mode operation for CDMA + LTE and UMTS + LTE technologies, which enables operators to conduct smooth network evolution from UMTS or CDMA to LTE, sources said.

"Our commitment to developing 700MHZ products further demonstrates our commitment to the U.S. market. Our U.S. business experience has shown that if we continue to focus on our core values of innovation, customer-oriented solutions and time-to-market leadership, we will continue to grow and prosper in North America," said Charlie Chen, Senior Vice President of Marketing & Product Management, Huawei North America.

Huawei Technologies provides hardware for 35 out of the top 50 networks worldwide.
