Porsche expects more orders from China

Porsche, the German-based luxury sports car maker, expects its sales in China to grow in the upper double-digit percentage range, according to a company statement.

In 2007, Porsche sold 4,179 units in mainland market, almost doubled its sales in the previous year. Among them, 650 cars are sports cars, with its classic 911 series taking up 51% of its sports car sales. Meanwhile, Porsche's Cayman, Boxster were also among the best selling sports cars last year.

Currently, sales volume in China account for 4% of the company's total sales in the global market. The company plans to boost the current 19 Porsche Centers in the country to 30 by the end of the year, as the country has become one of Porsche's most potential market, said the company.
