Mainland China imports US$540 mln Taiwan agricultural products

The total agricultural products that Chinese mainland imported from Taiwan, reached 456,000 tons worth US$540 million from 2005 to April this year, announced Yang yi today, spokesman of the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council.

During the period, Chinese mainland imported 8,066 tons of fruits worth US$1.14 million after RMB 13.48 million tax exemption and 660 tons of vegetables and aquatic products worth US$310,000 from Taiwan with RMB 260,000 in tax exempted, said Yang.

Over recent years, several measures have been issued by Taiwan related departments with the aim to promote agricultural exchanges between the mainland and the island, including extending the sale of Taiwan fruits, vegetables and aquatic products in the mainland market, he added.
