Huawei bags 3G contract from Malaysian DiGi
Huawei Technologies bagged a contract for 3G network rollout from Malaysian operator DiGi.Com Bhd. The contract will require Huawei to integrate, deploy and manage 3G network for DiGi leading up to its commercial launch in early 2009.
The first phase of DiGi's 3G service offerings focuses more on providing high-speed wireless internet services to the Malaysian population and will involve Huawei to supply UMTS Radio Access and Packet-Switched Core Network services and equipment to the Malaysian operator.
Huawei's president of South Pacific region, Jeff Liu, said: "This is an important milestone for us and we are proud to have the opportunity to partner the fastest - growing mobile service provider in Malaysia. We believe that our strength in WCDMA and experience in rolling out 3G networks will pave the way for a fruitful partnership."
The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.
