Huawei wins bid for China Telecom's 40G transmission network
China Telecom, the nation's largest fixed-line operator, announced that it has selected Huawei Technologies Co Ltd. (Huawei), a China-based leading provider of next-generation telecommunications networks for operators worldwide, to build China's first 40G WDM transmission network between Shanghai and Wuxi.
Pursuant to the terms of the contract, Huawei will provide China Telecom with an ultra-high-capacity 80 wavelengths x 40G transmission solution capable of 10G/40G hybrid transmission, which will be able to meet China Telecom's bandwidth requirements.
In addition, Malaysia-based telecoms operator DiGi.com and Huawei have inked a contract to integrate, deploy and manage the former's 3G network, which is scheduled to be commercially launched as early as 2009.
Currently, Huawei's products and solutions are deployed in over 100 countries worldwide.
