Snow derails profit

Guangshen Railway Co, the operator of trains in southern China's Guangdong Province, said yesterday half-year profit fell for the first time since 2004 after the country's worst snowstorms in five decades disrupted traffic. First-half net income dropped 9.6 percent to 674.2 million yuan (US$99 million), from 745.8 million yuan a year earlier.
