Yunnan Tin to cut output by 3,000 tons in Jul-Aug

China's Yunnan Tin, the top tin producer and exporter in the country, plans to reduce output from July to August by about 3,000 tons in total due to repairs at plants in China, according to a company director on Wednesday.

The company expects to produce 60,000 to 70,000 of refined tin for the whole year.

Meanwhile, Singapore's Tin Industries Pte Ltd (SIT), the joint venture between Yunnan Tin Ltd and KJP International Pte. Ltd, suspended the production of its smelter in Singapore for a month because of management issues.

SIT produces 36,000 tons of tin per year, which are mainly sold to Europe and the U.S. It began a refinery in Singapore in June 2006.

As the largest tin producer in China, the major products of Yunnan Tin cover more than 300 varieties in over 20 categories.
