First Desert Solar Station To Generate Electricity In December
China's first desert solar power station on the edge of the Tengger Desert in Wuwei, Gansu province, will begin generating electricity at the end of December, reports xb.gansudaily.com.cn. The 0.5 MW station will cover ground area of over 20,000 square meters and receive technology support from the Natural Energy Research Institute (NERI) at the Gansu Academy of Science, said the report quoting NERI vice director Li Shimin.
Companies will be able to begin bidding soon for another 10MW photovoltaic power station in Dunhuang, Gansu province, said the report. The National Energy Administration announced plans for China's first desert photovoltaic station on September 20.
