Geely Eagle series make global debut

Hangzhou-based automaker Geely Automobile Holdings Ltd. lately launched Geely Panda micro car of the Geely Eagle series.

The move signals that Geely's multilevel brand strategy is in progress. The Geely Eagle series, which will be distributed in the way that Volkswagen's Beetle cars adopt, are projected to be promoted to the youth and the fashionable group. By now, there have been 39 distributors with the Geely Eagle series and the figure is expected to reach 100 in the coming year, said Liu Jinliang, vice general manager of Geely.

And sales of Geely Panda micro cars are forecasted to hit 30,000 to 50,000 in 2009, the vice general manager added, under the shadow of the sluggish economy, micro cars and small cars would be the most popular cars.

In addition, Geely will achieve a sales volume of 230,000 this year, hiking around 10%. The sales plan for the next year is under discussion.
