Malaysian businessman: China's stimulus package to boost global economy

China's stimulus package to expand the domestic market will be effectively to boost the global economy, one of Malaysia's business leaders said here on Tuesday.

The current financial crisis sparked by the developed western countries has resulted in rapid global economy downturn and Malaysia was also affected, said Yong Ai Pwi, president of Malaysia-China Chamber of Commerce.

Every country in the world looks at China while taking pre-emptive measures to elevate the current economic woes, Yong told a press conference to promote the Fifth Chinese Export Commodities Exhibition & Investment Conference, which will take place here on Dec. 18-21.

The world hoped China to play an important role in reviving the economy, he said.

There are strong relations and complementary strengths between Malaysia and China he said, adding that Malaysia is becoming the biggest trading partner of China in Southeast Asia.

China's 4 trillion yuan stimulus package announced recently should bring ample business opportunities to Malaysia, he said.
