Shenhua Energy coal output up 20% in Oct

China Shenhua Energy Co Ltd<601088><1088>, the nation's biggest coal producer, announced its commodity coal output amounted to 16.2 million tons in October, up 20% from 13.5 million tons a year earlier, market sources reported.

In a filing with the Shanghai Stock Exchange, the company said it sold 19 million tons of coal during the month, up 9.2% compared with 17.4 million tons in the same period of last year, while coal exports fell sharply to 1 million tons, representing a year-on-year decrease of 41.2%.

The coal producer, which also operates railways, ports and power plants, said its power output in October moved up 13.8% from a year earlier to 7.19 billion kWh, and its electricity sales in the month climbed 13.7% to 6.65 billion kWh.
