ZTE expects China 3G tech adopted abroad by 2009

ZTE Corp, China's No. 2 telecoms equipment vendor, expects the country's high-speed third-generation technology to be adopted outside of China as soon as 2009, despite "flaws" that will need to be ironed out.

The homegrown telecoms standard known as TD-SCDMA needed to be perfected over several years, Isaac Liang, International Marketing Director for TD-SCDMA Products, told Reuters on Tuesday.

ZTE, which has struggled to maintain a fast pace of growth in its home market amid projections for a sharp slowdown in the world's fastest growing major economy, added that it had seen no impact from the global financial crisis or economic downturn, he added. ($1=6.823 Yuan)
