Japanese Retailer Yamada Speeds Entry Into China Market

Japanese home appliances retailer Yamada Denki Co. Ltd (TYO:9831) plans to invest 7-8 billion yen (RMB 530-560 million) in its first overseas retail location, scheduled to open in Shenyang, Liaoning province at the end of 2009, reports China Business News quoting a company announcement on December 30. The China store is expected to book annual sales volume of 20-30 billion yen (RMB 1.5-2.27 billion) and cover 5,000 to 10,000 square meters, said the report. Yamada Denki previously planned to open its first China store in the second half of 2010 but moved up the date due to the cooling Mainland real estate market, the report said.
