Shanxi to invest 31 bln yuan in power construction

Shanxi province, a coal-rich province in North China, will invest 31 billion yuan on power grid construction from 2009 to 2011, said officers on Jan 8.

The money will mainly be invested in the construction of UHV grid and 500KV main grid, as well as transformer station upgrade.

Meanwhile, 11 transmit and transformer construction projects, which started on Thursday, are expected to be on steam in this year.

In addition, Shanxi will continue to construct another 10 electrified counties, 120 electrified towns and 2000 electrified villages.
