Turkmenistan to postpone natural gas delivery to China

Turkmenistan will postpone natural gas delivery to China, the China Petrochemical News reported citing Russian media.

Originally, Turkmenistan agreed to export natural gas through the Central Asian gas pipeline from 2009. However, the new date is unspecified currently.

According to Turkmenistan's government press office, the startup of a natural gas processing plant attached to the Saman-Tepe gas field has been delayed, which resulted in the delay. Turkmenistan will resume gas delivery to China in a couple of years.

Currently, the Saman-Tepe gas field, the gas source for the 1,300-kilometer gas pipeline linking Turkmenistan and China, is under construction and is scheduled to start production by end of this year.
