3-G numbers ring bells for city applicants

China Mobile Shanghai branch is accepting applications for 188 3G mobile phone numbers today.

GeTone service users can apply on the company's website of the company, Xinmin.cn reported.

Users of GeTone, one of the core brands of China Mobile, will have to agree to use the 3G service for at least 24 months at a minimum monthly rate of 188 yuan (US$27).

The service is expected to be launched at the beginning of next month. Promotions including phone subsidies will be offered. Shanghai is one of the first cities to issue the 188 numbers.
