Pepsi Builds New Chinese Factory

PEPSICO Inc has begun construction of a new plant in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, to enhance production capacity.

The relocated plant in Nanchang, covering a total area of 20,000 square meters, would be able to produce 130,000 tons of beverages and triple its previous revenue, the company said in a statement.

The projects will also create 100 jobs.

The new plant is part of PepsiCo's US$1-billion investment in China over the next four years as the world's leading food and beverage company pledged to boost capacity in China's central and western regions.

The investment would also be used to enhance engineering capability and the distribution network.
