EXXON Mobil Corp's chemical unit will build a technology center in Shanghai to provide product applications support for its business in China and Asia, the United States oil giant announced yesterday.

The facility, at Shanghai Zizhu Science-based Industrial Park in Minhang District, is expected to be operational next year. It needs an initial investment of US$70 million, a company spokeswoman said by phone.
