Shenhua exports 1.8 mln tons of coal in July

Shenhua Energy Co. Ltd. , China's top producer of coal, sold 17.3 million tonnes of the fuel in July, exporting 1.8 million tonnes, the company said in a statement.

The company did not offer year-on-year comparisons but said exports were down 10 percent versus a monthly average of 2.0 million tonnes chalked up in 2006, while overall sales were up 21.0 percent.

Shenhua said it produced 13.8 million tonnes of commercial coal in July, a rise of 21.1 percent from a 2006 monthly average of 11.4 million tonnes.

Its gross power generation jumped 58.6 percent to 7.31 billion kilowatt hours compared with the 2006 monthly average of 4.61 billion kWh.
