Chunghwa Telecom to deal out record bonus to employees in 2007
Chunghwa Telecom's (CHT) board of directors, at a meeting on December 25, decided to distribute a bonus of 7.1 times the monthly salary to its employees for the company's 2007 operations, the highest annual bonus amount ever on record, according to the company.
CHT originally planned to deal out a 2007 bonus of 6.6-month's salary, but its board decided to increase the amount because CHT's 2007 business operation is expected to be better than forecast, the company explained. The board also approved CHT's 2008 revenues goal of NT$187.2 billion (US$5.75 billion) and a budget of NT$32 billion for capital expenditure in 2008.
According to the Chinese-language Commercial Times, CHT's actual capital expenditure in 2007 will be less than originally budgeted due to the company lagging behind in construction of its fiber-optic network and therefore CHT will speed up the construction in 2008.
