China to build 30 high-tech industrial bases

China plans to build 30 high-tech industrial bases, according to a circular on the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

Among the 30 high-tech industrial bases, six bases will be distributed in Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, Shenzhen and Xi'an, as well as the Zhuzhou and Xiangtan regions in Hunan Province, which will focus on information, biology technology, civil aviation, the astronautic sector, new materials and new energy.

Besides, Dongguan in Guangdong Province, Chengdu, the capital of China's southwest Sichuan Province, and Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province are all included in the list of the other 24 industrial bases.

High-tech bases are playing a pivotal role in upgrading industrial structure and transforming the mode of economic growth.

Industrial output of the high-tech sector hit RMB 1.91 trillion last year, accounting for 7.8% of China's GDP, and the new high-tech exports reached US$347.8 billion, nearly 30% of China's total exports.
