HK selected to host 19th CI World Congress in 2011

Hong Kong was selected to be the host city for the 19th World Congress of the Consumers International (CI) in 2011, said Hong Kong Consumer Council on Tuesday.

The CI World Congress, held every four years, is the independent world's campaigning voice for consumers over 220 member organizations in 115 countries. It is a world assembly of consumer leaders and advocates.

According to Hong Kong Consumer Council's Chairman Anthony Cheung, they are honored to be selected to host the CI World Congress, which will also have remarkable significance to the 1.3 billion consumers in Chinese mainland.

The last CI world Congress was held in Sydney in November 2007.
