LDK Solar 2008 wafer capacity sold out

Jiangxi-based manufacturer of multi-crystalline solar wafers LDK Solar Co Ltd announced that it has sold out 100% of its entire solar wafer capacity for 2008 and has sold more than 90% of capacity for 2009.

LDK Solar has also confirmed that it had increased the value of its inventory to US$380 million at the end of 2007.

Significantly, inventory in transit grew from 263 metric tons to 752 metric tons during the fourth quarter of 2007 as LDK bought silicon material from manufacturers around the globe. The higher inventory balance is an important factor in current and future cost reduction strategies at LDK Solar.

LDK sells multi-crystalline wafers globally to manufacturers of photovoltaic products, including solar cells and solar modules. In addition, the company provides wafer processing services to mono-crystalline and multi-crystalline solar cell and module manufacturers.
