Zhou Xiaochuan reappointed as governor of PBOC

China's National People's Congress, the highest state body and only legislative house in China, announced that Zhou Xiaochuan was reappointed as the governor of China's central bank, the People's Bank of China (PBOC).

Before his first appointment as the governor of PBOC in December 2002, Zhou was head of the China Securities Regulatory Commission (CSRC) and the president of China Construction Bank<601939><939>.

On the same day, Zhang Ping was named as the chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission, the country's top macroeconomic management agency under the State Council, while the former chairman Ma Kai was elected as a state councilor and secretary-general of the State Council.

Congress also named Chen Deming as the Minister of Commerce, Xie Xuren as the Minister of Finance.
