Acer raises shipment forecast to Europe, Mideast and Africa
Taiwan-based PC maker Acer Inc has hiked its shipment forecast for this year to Europe, Mid-east and Africa, according to Walter Deppeler, senior vice president-global, acting general manager-overseas business division.
Its sales in Europe, Mideast and Africa is expected to jump over 50% from a year earlier in 2008 due to stronger demand from Russia and Mideast, compared with previous forecast of a 30% rise, said Deppeler in a press brief.
Acer aims to achieve 16% to 18% share in the global PC market by year-end, according to its president Gianfranco Lanci. It expects to sell 6 to 7 million units of its Aspire One this year, and 15 to 20 million units in 2009.
