Siemens Phase 2 up to speed

GERMAN industrial conglomerate Siemens announced yesterday the opening of phase two of its Siemens Electrical Drives (Shanghai) Ltd unit, doubling the plant's capacity to shorten delivery time.

SEDS is able to produce 100 units of medium-voltage converters per month to satisfy the demand from industries including oil and gas, metallurgy, water and waste water treatment, paper and utility in China and other Asian markets.

Pudong-based SEDS posted sales of 270 million yuan (US$39 million) in 2007, and that is expected to rise to 500 million yuan this year.
