China's coal reserves enough for another hundred years

At present, over 70% of energy is provided by coal-fire in China. And according to a report created by Chinese Academy of Sciences, by 2050, coal-fire power plants would still provided more than 50% of Chinese energy.

The amount of proven coal resource buried sallower than 1km in depth is 114.5 billion tonnes. Judging by the rate of use of coal today, coal reserves is to be depleted in 100 years time. On the other hand, Chinese petroleum resource of 3.8 billion tonnes can only last for about 20 years. 94% of Chinese energy is in the form of coal.

Conclusively, coal resource is, and will play a huge part in Chinese energy industry.
